Why Hopkins Baking Company?
I don’t get it - don’t all bakeries bake from scratch?
NO! Frozen premade donuts, tubs of ready-to-use buttercream and preprepared croissant dough are just a few industry “helpers” that are offered in supplier catalogs to baking businesses. These products are cheap to acquire and can boost a bakery’s profit margins, but they are also factory produced and full of preservatives and artificial flavor.

At Hopkins Baking Company, we make all of our elements completely from scratch. Our frostings, our fillings, our drizzles and our doughs are 100%, absolutely and completely OURS. This is why we are happy to discuss how we made them (and what’s in them) while we are busy making them yours at the bakery counter.
Isn’t “organic” just a scam to charge more?
Not at all! The pesticides and herbicides used in our beautiful country (along with genetically modified organisms) are linked with some serious health concerns. Plus, they really affect how things taste and not in a good way. Do you have a favorite treat from when you were a child that used to taste so much better? (Ours is a certain cherry cheese coffee cake). That’s not your tastebuds changing, that’s the recipe using more artificial ingredients.
We take incredible pride in the wide range of high quality, clean organic ingredients we choose to bake with. Meaning, if we wouldn’t eat it in our organic home, we most certainly are not going to feed it to you!

Why does your menu keep changing?
This is for a couple of reasons. First, sourcing organic ingredients is not always an easy, stress-free task (does anyone recall the recent bird flu and the exorbitant organic egg prices that came along with it?) More importantly, we believe that food is meant to be an adventure. A delicious, scrumptious, sometimes cheese-covered, other times buttercream-filled adventure. We like to try new recipes and new flavor combinations on a regular basis. Sure, some fan favorites stay on every menu (we actually suspect there might possibly be a customer uprising if we ever took a break from our famous Fluffy Cinnamon Rolls) but we do try to bring you new sensational seasonal flavors with every change up.
Don’t like blueberry? Are you looking for German chocolate cake? If we don’t have it now, just wait a few weeks and give us a call. Chances are what you want will be back soon enough, and you may just discover a new favorite while you wait!
